Winnie R. Makokha

Winnie R. Makokha is a Multidisciplinary researcher with experience spanning occupational safety and health and workers’ rights, public health, child safeguarding, digital advocacy. Winnie is curious about the intersection of life sciences and social sciences, with an appreciation of how these two broad disciplines enrich each other. Her experience working in a school, mining and agribusiness sector, with particular focus on workers safety in both formal and informal set ups has given her insights on the importance of decent work.

She currently serves as the ICOH National Secretary for Kenya, stewarding conversations and research in OSH. As a champion for gender inclusion particularly support for women in workspaces where they are a minority, she was honoured in 2020 by the Women in Red Vodafone awards, an award that acknowledges inspiring women and their contribution n the workplace. On the digital advocacy front, she has supported numerous programs run by Mozilla Foundation which champions for an open and equitable internet /digital world.
