Afrophilia Agasna is a lawyer, working at the point where artificial intelligence, health innovation and data governance meet African communities. She specialises in AI governance and data protection and leads the legal, ethics, and data-protection team for a multi-country project using AI to diagnose neglected tropical diseases across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Her practice is hinged on the conviction that, how we govern emerging technologies matters just as much, if not more, than innovation itself and that governance done well, is not a brake on innovation but the very thing that lets technology serve people rather than the reverse. She brings a decolonial, community-centred lens to how health data from African populations is stewarded, so that communities remain agents, not subjects, of the technologies built from their lives.
