Mahesh Krishnamurthy is interested in and engaged in efforts to strengthen governance and rule of law, particularly in India. Most recently, he was a partner in Omidyar Network India where he managed the investment portfolio and drove the evaluation, selection and closing of for-profit investments and exits, and non-profit grants.
Mahesh has about thirty five years of work experience split equally between US and India in principal investing (Omidyar Network India, True North, KT Venture Group, Idanta Partners), management consulting (McKinsey), and operating roles in technology companies (Honeywell, AT&T, Accelrys). He also has extensive experience in working with non-profit entities. Some of his significant accomplishments include: proving that a dual cheque-book venture capital fund can be financially viable, helping a mid-market PE firm grow from an AUM of $600MM to $2BB, leading a control investment in a microfinance company that has become a small finance bank, and co-founding the Global PE Alliance and the IIT Bombay FAN network.
Mahesh holds a B.Tech. in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay), an M.S. in computer science from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. In 2019, he received an LLB from the Government Law College, Mumbai.
